On a cold and blustery morning with impending catastrophic storms developing, 16 intrepid members braved the elements to attempt to conquer the course.

With it’s thin grass coverage on the fairways and slick greens, this did provide a challenge to most. Several very interesting approaches to the greens were utilised but, basically to no avail. Utilisation of the multi-fairway game was also observed.

Unfortunately, many of these methods went unrewarded as only 1 member equalled or bettered their handicap and the average score of 28.65 will probably promote a deal of re-thinking by many a member.

Winner on the day, and conquering the conditions, was Adam “I didn’t get a kiss” Baker on 37.  Second was Warren Raynor dressed in black with white shoes and declaring his timely allegiance to the Wallabies on 34. Coming in third,  also on  34, losing on a countback, was that shining light, which was beanie covered at the start, Alex Greig.

Nearest the pins on 2 holes, much to the delight of his playing partners, was Warren Raynor. The jackpot was not won, sloppy Warren.

Concurrently, and at the same time, were 2 first round matches of the Club Championship. Matt “The Pommy Basher” Brown was victorious over Dan “The Tar Greens specialist” Page 2 and 1. In the other match Rob “I am clear headed!” Preston defeated Bob “Give me a hug” Farquharson 3 and 2.

See you at the next game at Mona Vale on 1 September.

Happy swinging.
