Morning all.
A great day was had by all on Sunday at Turramurra then back at the club for
our Christmas party and AGM.
We'll start with the golf. Conditions were pretty good though the course was
a little patchy and the greens very slow. It took a while to get a handle on
the speed by which time most of us were almost finished. This was a pick
your partner event and the day was won by Ian Preston and Werner on 48
points. They won on a countback from David and myself with Sean and Dan
finishing 3rd on 47. The entire group was only separated by 7 points with
16th place coming in with 41 . Pretty decent golf all round. Individually
the day was won with 40 points with 16th place on 35. We had 3 players on 37
and 8 players on 36. Our average score all round was the highest of the
year.
We had 6 nearest the pins up for grabs. They were picked up by Gary, Steve,
Alex, Adam and Rob Preston and Roger. Longest drive went to Rob Preston in A
grade, Gary in B grade and Paul in C grade.
We then slowly made our way back to the club for lunch. A huge thank you to
Matt, Paul, Bob and Ian Prohm for taking care of lunch for us. It was well
and truly up to the incredibly high standard we have become used to. Plenty
of great ham, turkey, chicken, prawns and salad for all.
Our AGM went rather smoothly this year. Our president of a number of years
Steve Joyce stood down from the role on Sunday after 12 years as a captain,
president or committee member. Steve has taken the club forward over these
years and his tireless efforts have not gone unnoticed by the members. Thank
you Steve for your years of dedication to the club.
The new president is Matt Brown who was voted in unchallenged.
Congratulations to Matt. We all know you wouldn't put your hand up for the
role unless you believed you could do a great job. We look forward to your
new ideas taking the club forward in the years to come.
Richard stood down from the committee and Martin put his hand up to take
over position. The rest of the committee remains the same.
Our charity raffle combined with the new initiative of Pauls, chipping balls
into a toilet, raised $615 for our local charity. Well done to all involved.
All in all it was a great day with all the preparation and effort put into
making the day well worth it.
Our next game is at Mona Vale on the 5th of January.
If I don't see you before then, have a very happy Christmas and a safe new
year.
Jason.
