It really was a beautiful day at Wakehurst on Sunday. The weather was perfect and the course was in stunning condition. The white markers were set a fair way back and there were a few challenging pin positions but that shouldn’t have been enough to hold the scoring back the way it did.  The average score was just a tick over 26 with only 1 player breaking the 36 point barrier.  Well done Rob Preston.

Rob was our winner on the day pinching the silver medal out of the eager hands of Steve.  Steve finished on 35 points ahead of Adam Baker on 33. Warren and Werner were the only 2 other players to beat 30 points. The rest of us should get in a bit of practice between games.  Me in particular. I didn’t crack double figures till the 12th hole.

Nearest the pin on the 5th was won by Adam Baker.  Nearest the pin on the 13th was won by no one, 135 meters down the hill and not 1 of 28 golfers managed to keep a ball on the green. The jackpot went off again with a great shot from Warren on the 155 meter 16th.

The game was also the quarter final of our match play club championship. It looked like 2 very close games and 2 games that were wrapped up on the 16th. The old timer, Steve, beat our young up and comer Adam 1 up sinking a 20 meter up hill put on the last to snatch victory. Well played to both of you.  Finishing 2nd and 3rd on the day, that must have been quite a match. Warren beat Ian Redfearn on the 18th as well, winning 1 up.   Bob beat Matt 3 & 2 and Carl beat Rob Langer 3 & 2 also.  Well played to all.

The semi finals will be Steve v Bob and Carl v Warren. That game will be played at Mona Vale on October 11.

Before the game at Mona Vale we have one coming up at Kooindah Waters on Sunday 27th September. The tee off time is 7.47 am. It takes about an hour and 15 minutes to get up there so its not that far away and it certainly is a great course. Please let me know or register online if you would like to play.
