Asquith Golf course seemed to be the winner on Sunday.

With no rain, no smoke haze but a pretty sodden course and long grass everywhere, even up to the edge of the greens on some holes, the conditions proved too much for most of the 16 who played, not a brilliant turn-out.

After a bit of confusion regarding tee-off positions and the new rules, handicaps were adjusted accordingly. This seemed to affect most of the players with only 3 bettering their handicaps and an average score of 26.5.

However, conquering the course and finishing on 39 points, our esteemed President, Matt Brown, came in first. There must be something in the position which inspires him.

Second, on 38 points, was “Mr Hammers” himself, Les Andrews who was closely followed by Warren Raynel on 37 points.

Carl Walker hit 2 good shots all day, judging by his score, and both of them were nearest the pins. The jackpot was not won, sloppy on Carl’s behalf, just no consistency.

Next game is on 1st March at Mona Vale and is the 2nd round of the Captain’s Trophy. You can still register on “The Sheet” at the club, on-line or just call our friendly Captain, Jason.

See you there.

Cheers, Martin
